Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) with Moira McFadyen
EFT is essentially a form of "psychological acupressure" - except that you don't use needles. The approach relieves symptoms by tapping on various body locations where a number of
meridian lines join. The tapping balances the energy meridians that have become disrupted when we think about or experience an emotionally disturbing circumstance.
Once balanced, the upset is usually resolved - the memory stays but the emotional charge is gone. Typically, the results last and are also accompanied by positive changes in thinking. The technique is easy to learn and ideal for self-help.
What does EFT do?
EFT can provides relief from a myriad of problems. There are documented results of EFT being successfully used to treat weight loss problems, pain management, allergies, children’s issues, headaches, panic/anxiety attacks, PTSD, abuse, depression, anger issues, fears/phobias, eating disorders, claustrophobia, agoraphobia, anorexia/ bulimia, sports and other performance issues,
to name but a few.

What is Reflexology?
It's a therapy based on the theory that all the organs, glands and systems of the body have corresponding reflex points in the feet and hands. By stimulating these reflexes, a treatment can clear congestion in a particular area and maintain a healthy balance in mind and body. A reflexology treatment can help with a wide range of physical and emotional conditions and is a deeply relaxing and calming experience.
I have a particular interest (and have completed a further course) in Maternity Reflexology, working with clients from pre-conception throughout pregnancy, to birth and post-natal care. Reflexology can help with all sorts of pregnancy related symptoms and, in the later stages, can be helpful in preparing you for the birth and priming labour, often reducing labour time. After the birth, reflexology is a great way of restoring your energy, balancing your hormones, promoting lactation and generally helping you to relax.
What happens during a reflexology treatment?
During the treatment, you will remain fully clothed and lie on a massage table while I work on your feet. Firm but gentle pressure is applied to each foot so it does not feel at all ticklish. I use a soothing foot lotion and work on the whole of one foot followed by the other, giving a holistic treatment of the whole body. I also use gentle massage techniques for deep relaxation.

Leading a busy life eventually takes it toll on the body, and you often end up feeling run down and being vulnerable to colds, infections, muscular tension, etc. I have always been a great believer in preventative medicine. By this I mean looking after yourself by way of eating healthily, exercising, drinking plenty of water, and taking the time to have a complementary therapy treatment of some sort on a regular basis to help keep your body’s vital energy in balance.
For several years I worked in marketing, in busy and stressful jobs which started affecting my health, sleeping patterns, energy levels and general outlook on life. Reflexology was particularly helpful to me so I decided to do the training for myself and have a change of direction. I love working with the feet and reflexology continues to fascinate me on a regular basis. We rely very heavily on our feet in daily life so I firmly believe we should look after them more!
